Dr. Esther Yi, PSY.D
Founder of New Heights Learning Center
Dr. Esther Yi, the founder of New Heights Learning Center, is a licensed Psychologist (PSY32726), wife, and mother of two boys. She is the Chief of Staff at APPRO Inc. and serves on the board with Genesis Recovery. Dr. Yi was the previous Clinical Director with Rhombus Counseling.
She established NHLC after discovering the limited options for alternative education that provide homeschooling flexibility, consistent playtime to build lasting relationships, and a high regard for academic achievement.
NHLC offers a unique approach to education that prioritizes the brain development of the child, with a focus on lifelong skills and a love of learning. Families seeking high-quality education, flexibility, and developmentally appropriate educational practices will find New Heights Learning Center to be an excellent choice.

Makenzie Narrowlark
Lead Teacher
Makenzie Narrowlark brings a creative and student-centered approach to education, shaped by a diverse background in multi-disciplinary art education, tutoring, and childcare. She earned her Masters of Teaching in Art Education from Columbia College Chicago, and has worked with children in a variety of learning environments. Her training emphasized creative problem-solving, interdisciplinary thinking, and learner-centered approaches to help children make connections and learn more effectively in any subject.
For the past five years, she has drawn on that foundation while homeschooling her own two children, ages 7 and 9, designing integrated, hands-on learning experiences that support student critical thinking, curiosity, and emotional development across all subjects.
Makenzie is passionate about cultivating a learning space that values individualized progress. She believes that children thrive when they feel seen and supported, and she prioritizes connection and clarity in her work with students. Her goal is to help each child build confidence in their own learning process and take ownership of their development across academic, social, and emotional domains.
In her spare time, Makenzie is usually in her garden cultivating native plants, perennials, and herbs, or in her kitchen baking sourdough bread and healthy desserts.

Rebecca Lee
Music Teacher
Mrs. Rebecca Lee brings over a decade of classroom experience and a lifelong love of music to New Heights Learning Center. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Elementary Music Education from the University of North Texas, with a concentration spanning Early Childhood through 12th grade. As an Orff Certified educator — Levels I–III and Masters — she uses a movement- and rhythm-centered approach that meets children at every developmental stage.
For ten years, Mrs. Lee taught music to Pre-K through 5th grade students at Riverchase Elementary in Coppell, Texas, where she developed and led the school's Choir, Instrument Club, and Piano Club and produced seasonal performances for the school community. She was honored as Teacher of the Year (2014–2015) and Teacher of the 9-Weeks (2021–2022), and was recognized as an online music teacher during the 2021–2022 school year for seamlessly adapting her curriculum to virtual learning.
Since 2006, Mrs. Lee has also taught private piano and flute lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, organizing yearly recitals that celebrate each student's growth and hard work.
At New Heights Learning Center, she brings that same dedication and creativity to every lesson — helping students build confidence, curiosity, and a genuine joy for music.
